Why “Purple haze”? “Purple Haze” is a rare phenomena that happens after a volcanic eruption. Fine volcanic aerosols in the stratosphere scatter blue light, which produces a purple hue when the sun is setting. But volcanos aren’t the only ones that can cause the sky to turn purple. Smog from man-made pollution is reported to have generated a similar phenomenon in multiple places around the globe. We strive to raise awareness and combat this.
